Through research of the surrounding Hintonburg neighbourhood, it was apparent that brick was a staple of the area and therefore became integral to the adaptive reuse of the Magee House. This site proposes a multi-use brick salvage centre, pottery studio, and community greenspace to foster community back into the area.
The addition will remain subordinate to the original building, due to its lower height and setback from the street. The cool yellow brick chosen will blend with the existing stone structure, while still being distinct - tying the function and common meteriality into the project.
